Summertime Sports

My son played baseball this year for the first time.

He even got to play catcher. I love how serious he looks in this photo.

And my daughter had her first and only swim meet.  Most of the kids participate on the team year round.  Our schedule is just too busy right now to add swimming to the list during the school year.

This one was boys and girls and they were racing to improve their times and hopefully qualify for state.

And softball has ended.  Only one injury to speak of and she got pretty good at catching the ball and tagging the other team out.

Most of our sports are done for the summer but we still have 5 or 6 weeks before school starts.  We are spending a lot of time in the water - lakes, pools, sprinklers, rivers.  It's been a hot one but this week will be mostly in the 90s instead of ranging around 100. In fact after spending an hour trimming back all the dead salvia blooms against the hot south side of my house, I feel a sudden need to go down into the basement and sew.
